Learn What Your Cravings Actually Tell Your Body

Have you ever wondered why you crave for a particular food after a stressful day at work or school? Food cravings especially for women can be very intense and those food we crave are mostly regarded as “comfort food”. It comes especially a week before your period. Before giving in to the temptation of eating unhealthy food, learn what you actually need according to the demands of your body.

Food cravings actually is a way for our body to remind us of a lack of particular nutrient or mineral. If you noticed, cravings usually come after a stressful day or week or if you begin to have a change in hormones particularly for women experiencing PMS. So what does the body actually tells us?

Craving for Sweets

If you are craving for sweets, your body is telling you that you need more Chromium, Carbon Phosphorus, Sulfur and Tryptophan. Instead of eating candy bars and everything sweet you can ever imagine, you need to consume grapes, green beans, fresh fruits, green leafy vegetables, tomato, broccoli, cheese, seeds and nuts, legumes, sweet potato, turkey and chicken.

Craving for Fatty Foods

Craving for a fatty meal or snack means that you have an inadequate Calcium supply in your system. Instead of devouring hearty meaty burgers and fries, you can instead eat green leafy vegetables, broccoli, cheese and yogurt.

Craving for Chocolate

Chocolate is not that bad if taken occasionally and in regulated amounts. However, it becomes a problem if you are trying to lose weight or you are battling Diabetes. If you are craving for chocolate, your body is telling you that you need Magnesium. So, in order to avoid giving in to temptation, eat nuts, seeds, legumes, and fruits. That’s it and you’ll find yourself satisfied without devouring a bar of chocolate.

Craving for Pasta and Bread

Pasta and bread can have high amounts of Calories and if you are craving for it, your body actually needs nitrogen. So in order to make your body feel satisfied without filling yourself up with spaghetti or lasagna, eat meat, fish, nuts and beans instead.

Craving for Salty Food

Salty food can give you problems especially if you have cardiovascular diseases. Too much salty food can make your body hold in too much water resulting your heart to pump and exert more effort than it used to. Craving for salty food actually means your body needs Chloride and eating fish will actually stop you from craving salty snacks.

Understanding how your body works is important especially nowadays that fast-food business is growing all around the world. Eating healthy and making sure your body has all the necessary nutrients and minerals will make those unhealthy cravings go away.
